When I was first married (40 plus years ago) we had a washer, but no room in our little trailer for a dryer. I used a folding rack set into the bath tube, and hangers over the shower rod every night to dry clothes.

I did a small load daily, and they were dry by the next morning. The fitted sheets I attached using clothes pins on the four corners clipped to the shower curtain hooks, and designer Plant hanger style screws with toggle bolts to the wall at each end of the tub up above the waterproof wall board.

A laundry rope run between the screws was just the thing to hang my light weight dish towels over. It worked well in winter since the heat vent in the bath provided lots of air circulation (bathroom was next to furnace). In the summer when it rained, I sometimes used a fan to circulate air and speed up the process.

Sometimes the simplest ideas are the easiest to implement and therefore, have an impact. Paper is an everyday item that can be reused before it is recycled. I use the blank side of paper for notes, to-do lists, and for my kids to draw on. Only after paper is reused does it go into the recycling bin.

Pretty ingenious! You really cannot tell the difference or that those rocks are actually made of recycled cardboard. Great work!

I have read many great hints and tips from this wonderful site. Most of the suggestions offer ways of saving energy, yes this is very important BUT our health is also very important. We all must consider less toxic products when winterizing and renovating. The sealants, adhesives and spray foams we use around our doors and windows, use the no or low VOC, Non-ozone depleting formulas. Insulation "F___glass Bad", Cotton contains no formaldehydes or carcinogens and will not condone mold growth. CFL bulds are better but contain trace amounts of mercury while LEDs are quite expensive yet will last almost forever. Wrapping your hot water tank with F___glass will slow the heat from escaping, use a foil radiant wrap instread to reflect the heat back to the tank.
