Green trend in design: ‘Drop chandelier’ by Stuart Haygarth

This sea colored plastic bottles lighting solution that contrasted the mass-consumed products was created by UK designer Stuart Haygarth during the design performance series at Design Miami.

The water-drop shaped chandelier was made from the bases of pet plastic water bottles. The artist collected 1800 bottles from London’s stansted airport and tumbled them with sand and water to create a smoother texture similar to frosted glass. The performance allowed audience to view Stuart Haygarth as he assembled bottles together. People  got a chance to contribute their used bottles to the process that  lasted for 3 days.
